You got to move it, move it! You got to move it, move it! There – has that song worm embedded itself in your brain for the rest of the day?
It most assuredly has in mine. But hey, that might as well be my theme song these days. You may recall me mentioning a while back that I think/reason/make up stuff best while my stubby little legs are in motion. And you may also recall the “thorn in my flesh” I wrote about a few weeks ago (for some strange reason since my knee surgery I can’t keep sitting for longer than 20 minutes at a time). Well, I’m now up to 30 minutes (praising Papa God here!) but put those two factors together while I’m sweating over a hot computer keyboard on my new devotional and you get … my Pace Place.
Yes, I’m a pacer (you already knew that, didn’t you?) and I love the Cathedral of Papa God’s Creation (the great outdoors) so it’s pretty inevitable that I’d find a terrific Pace Place. Hold it – I didn’t say Peyton Place, although that oldie soap opera would make for some interesting devo takeaways. I could call it Lust is a Many Splintered Thing. [kidding!] I hope my publisher isn’t reading this.
I said Pace Place and I adore pacing back and forth, back and forth on that secluded quarter-mile strip, pouring my heart out to Papa God, listening for His still small voice, and feeling His heartbeat next to mine. Every now and then He sends a little visitor to keep me company and it thrills me to the core – so far this week I’ve seen three deer, a half-dozen chipmunks, a cute lil’ bunny, some furry creature with a wide, flat tail that must’ve been a beaver (although I’ve never seen one in real life before), and a dead skunk in the middle of the road. Thankfully that last one wasn’t too near my Pace Place.
My Pace Place is at a really high elevation so nobody got the memo that winter’s over yet. Teensy buds are just a hint on tree limbs and green shoots are just starting to peek above the soil so this dyed-in-the-seersucker flat Florida girl is tickled pink to get a front row seat to real Spring with daffodils and tulips and redbuds. Those may be old hat to you but they’re shiver-me-timbers exciting to me.
So tell me, dear BFF (Blessed Friend Forever), where is your special place to commune with your heavenly Father? Doesn’t have to be a Pace Place if you’re not a pacer – I might even get jealous if you can actually sit down in your prayer place. What do you talk about there? Okay, I shared mine, now you’ve gotta share yours (comment below)! Hugs!
P.S. Anybody got any family remedies for poor, overworked, aching legs?

Deb- sounds beautiful!! I love all the little critters and birds that hang out by my backyard bird feeder. I feel that I always have company as there is always a critter visiting. I love sitting in the quietness of the backyard chatting with God and all His creatures. Even the alligator who swims by and the turtles who just pop their heads up out of the water.
Enjoy the mountains!!

In my opinion, there’s nothing more worshipful to the Creator than spotting and appreciating His little critters. I just wish I knew more about them to appreciate them even more. You stay away from that gator, now! Hugs!

Tiger balm may help soothe your aches. I am going to send you pictures of my happy place! My sanctuary where I worship God when I am able to get there that is

I am heart broken…the pictures that I had taken are not saved on my phone. But I used to go hiking on Mt. Wiodson in San Diego county (CA) it was my cathedral…it overlooked the valley, and I could always feel God’s presence there

Oooh, Julie – that sounds lovely! I can’t say I’ve ever been to Mt. Wiodson but maybe I should add it to my bucket list! Thanks for commenting, my friend!

I am in a life place where the still and quiet are my rarity, my goal and my place to just “Be Still and Know.” But, I actually don’t get this time often as a Single Mom. Oh, but when I do!!! How wonderful it is!
debora13 says
I hear THAT, Patricia. It seems like yesterday that I was in that season of crazy-busy motherhood when solitude and stillness seems like foreign words. I’m lifting you up in prayer, my sister, that the Lord will send you a rare moment of “being still and knowing” very soon. Hugs!

Deb ~ you are a breath of fresh air and beyond that a Blessing to Us All. I love your book and I love you ! May the LORD bless and keep you, my friend ….

Gayle, your sweet words made my day! They came at just the right moment to inspire me to keep plugging away at my new devotional (some days are harder than others not to question if Papa God really wants me to do this!) and your encouragement was just what I needed to park my butt back in the computer chair for another day. They call that the “button” technique for writing – keep your butt on the chair. Been having some trouble with that lately! So thank you, my sister … I love you too!

I’ve been doing my paper devotions (books) in my loveseat recliner. If I don’t keep my feet up I tend to get lightheaded. I used to be a pacer. But I am learning “be still and know” that God is God.

Is it a blood pressure problem, Trisa? Boy is it ever hard to change a busy lifestyle to a more sedentary one, even if it’s only temporary. I’m struggling with that too. I thought I could resume my mountain hiking (we’re not talking climbing, here, only walking on slight slopes) and my hip is rebelling. There wasn’t anything wrong with my hip before my knee surgery. ARGH! Sorry – I need to remind myself that complaining isn’t as cathartic to the listener as it is to the complainee. Hugs to you, girlfriend!
