Okay, last week I asked if you do the “word for the year” thing that many folks do in an effort to motivate themselves through the upcoming year. I’ve been thinking about a word for myself and by golly I do believe I found one.
It’s … willing.
The step somewhere between “try” and “competent.” It may not be the same as “just get it done” or “boy am I good at this,” but it shows a spirit of respectful submission to the assignment from Papa God, regardless of personal profiency previously acquired for the task at hand.
“Willing” is not reckless. It’s not haphazard. Nor is it exactly precise. Rather, it’s an earnestness that I’ll do my best at this task, even if I’m not crown-and-tiarra level. I will persevere. I will keep on trying even if the first few efforts are epic failures.
It’s a silent acknowledgemnt that the Lord could have chosen any number of people to do it who are all more skilled than me, but for some reason, He chose me.
Me. Fallible ole me. Even though He knows my faults and limitations better than anyone.
So I’ll do my absolute best to accomplish the task, even though, like Moses with the Moses Mantra, I believe Papa God picked the wrong guy. Or gal. Because out of my love and utter respect for Him, I am willing.
How about you, my friend? Do you have a word for 2026?
P.S. Exciting announcement coming soon!
