Yep, you’re right. This post is a bit tardy. Or did you not notice that I missed posting last week? (Of course you did. Didn’t you? Right? Right?)
No matter. I had a good reason. His name is Mason! Mason Charles, to be exact. The fam has been referring to him as MC2 because he has the same initials as his daddy (my son) Matthew Charles. Seems appropriate because MC2 is definitely a ball of energy.
Mason is already a take-charge kind of guy. He decided to surprise us all and punch his way out of the womb three weeks early. But then he had second thoughts about leaving his nice warm cave in there and it took 30+ hours of labor to coax him out.
My son and daughter-in-love graciously invited me to come spend this week helping MC2 get adjusted to life on the outside so I’m playing Mimi-in-residence this week. I love it. I get to sing all the great songs I honed on the other grands, like “Mimi’s Little Baby Loves Shortnin’ Bread” and “Yo Mimi Wears Army Boots” – babies are never too young to learn the classics.
