Hey BBFF, we’re almost done with the 7 Days of Christmas and I’ve saved the best till last! This crazy memory will always be one of my faves and I’m happy to share it with you for a Christmassy LOL.
Tomorrow is the last post in this series of fun stories, thoughts, and scripture leading up to Christmas Day. Thank you so much for joining me during this week of seeking more blessings than stressings! Hope you’ll plan on staying in our Too Blessed to be Stressed community of friends as we ring in the New Year.
“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corin. 5:17 NIV)
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse … which is why the muffled BOOM awakened us just before midnight on Christmas Eve.
I sat straight up in bed. What was that? Did Santa land on the roof? Wait – the sound seemed to have come from our closet.
Chuck and I cautiously crept across the room and peeked in. A thick, dark substance like rancid chocolate pudding splattered the walls, clothes, and shoes. It even dripped off the ceiling light.
“Smells like somebody blew up a truckload of rotten eggs in here,” Chuck said, looking around in disgust.
“I think somebody did blow up.” I stared, horrified, at the ball of purring fur at my feet. Our snowy white cat, now covered in black sludge, sported a gaping hole in her side.
Turns out Kitty was secretly battling an internal abscess that built up pressure until it burst forth like a cannon ball. Ewww.
As I scrubbed the closet on all fours in the wee hours of Christmas morning, I thought about today’s verse. When we become new creatures in Christ, we expel the old, festering sin in our lives and start over fresh … like Kitty, who practically danced on tippy-paw after her physical nastiness was expelled. The way to experience that kind of new life spiritually is through faith in Christ.
So this Christmas, if you haven’t yet received the gift of salvation, you may be harboring a putrid, infected heart.
You know, the Great Healer can expel that and replace it with a clean, fresh heart.
And you won’t even have to scrape alien pudding off your boots!
Prayer for Today:
Precious Savior, Make me aware today of the state of my heart.
