I’m so excited – it’s my miracle anniversary! It was during this week last year (2023) I was notified about a very important milestone in my writing career: 2 million copies of my Too Blessed to be Stressed series had sold!
Inconceivable! (nod to the Princess Bride there)
But that’s what miracles are … inconceivable to our little human finite minds. But thankfully totally conceivable through the infinite power of our mighty God. With Him, anything is possible!
“To him who is able to do EXCEEDINGLY, ABUNDANTLY, BEYOND all that we ask or imagine, according to his power that is working within us, to him be glory … for ever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21, emphasis mine).
I’m still flabbergasted with awe when I look back twenty years ago to that day in the dentist’s office when I was praying about what to do with my life now that my nest was emptying and I randomly opened a magazine to a writing contest. A still small voice whispered two words to my heart, “It’s time” and I knew exactly what it meant. Time to chase the childhood dream God had placed in my heart to write for His glory. And with absolutely no experience and zero knowledge of Publishing World, I was off like a racehorse out of the starting gate.
Come to think of it, writing is a lot like horseracing in the occupational hazard department … after you lose a race, you have to step over the piles of horse poo, wipe off your boots, and mount up again for the next heat. I had enough rejection slips to paper mache a rhino. But I firmly believed that if He wills it, He fulfills it, so I persevered (even though I fell off my horse a few times) and held to my calling.
It took two decades but through Papa God’s grace, here I am, celebrating this incredible milestone I never, ever, in a thousand years thought that I would. Two million books! I can’t even begin to count that high.
And I thank YOU, my faithful readers, for supporting me throughout these past twenty years, and for kindly telling your friends about my books and spreading the word. None of this would be possible without YOU. I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart.
It’s because of YOU that I’m working on a new 365-day devotional and a few fun surprises to accompany it when it releases in 2025. I can’t tell you how much your encouragement to keep writing has meant to me. You truly are Blessed Friends Forever.
So in honor of this austere occasion, I’d like to give away one of my books you haven’t yet read to three of you – my cherished BFFs (Blessed Friends Forever). Hop over to www.DeboraCoty.com and you’ll see all my books listed with descriptions of each (there are dozens). Some are out of print, but I still have copies of most of them for my sales table at speaking events. Contact me with the words “I’m Too Blessed to be Stressed!” either in comments below or by Facebook and I’ll draw three names out of a hat for the giveaway contest and post the winners right here on my blog next week. Then you can tell me which book you want and I’ll sign it especially for you and pop it in the mail.
Hugs and many thanks for celebrating this amazing milestone with me!

Dear Debora,
Congratulations!!! What a milestone!
I always enjoy reading your blogs. This one surprised me. I thought you must have had a literary degree and had been writing all your adult life. I’ve always entertained the possibility of taking writing classes so I might try my hand at writing.
I was gifted my first Debora M. Coty book about 8 years ago at a very difficult time in my life. Since then, I have purchased several of your books, including “The Distant Shore” and “Billowing Sails,” the latter was a resale that you had signed.
“I’m Too Blessed to be Stressed!” So true! And, I have found your inspirational books make the perfect gifts.
May God bless you abundantly for inspiring so many. I always look forward to you blogs.
Thank you!
debora13 says
Dearest BFF Charlene, I’m honored that you thought I had actual training as a writer. In a way I did, because I learned a lot in the school of hard knocks. I was too stubborn to believe everyone who said it couldn’t be done so I did it anyway. And you can too! If you’d ever like a sounding board, through my Can-Do Writing Coaching, I offer a free half-hour phone consult where we assess how I might be able to help you meet your goals and then you decide if you’d like to invest in hourly sessions or not. No pressure. Just PM me if you’d like to schedule a consultation – take a look at my writing coaching pages on my website at deboracoty.com for more details. Hugs!
