Have you ever noticed that the most glorious sunbeams occur only after it rains?
This – one of my all-time fave photos – was taken just last week as I was praying in my little Smoky Mt cabin hideaway. It’s my habit as an early riser to come before Papa God under the canopy of His beautiful creation and seek His “peace that surpasses all understanding” (Phil 4: 6-7) as the sun rises on a new day.
It had rained most of the previous night and my spirits felt dampened. Not just because of the humid atmosphere, but also because of the atmosphere that seems to be enveloping our nation these days.
It’s a toxic and discouraging cloud of fear, anger, and out-of-control passions. It tries to choke the hope right out of us.
I know you feel it too.
So as I lifted my sad, heavy, hurting heart to my Lord that morning, I also lifted my eyes to this incredible spectacle. Not merely sunbeams … hope beams.
Just. Wow.
Since girlhood, I’ve been a sunbeam connoisseur. I’ve seen Papa God’s fingers reaching down to earth to touch us with His mercy time and time again. But these sunbeams were amazingly different. They were alive. I could sense the peace in them. The shafts and pools of blazing light were a powerful image of how our Creator offers His beloved creation new mercies every single morning.
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it” (Heb 4:16 NLT).
What hope! We WILL receive mercy; we WILL find grace; we WILL receive help when we need it.
That’s all.
My message is simple. Hope is not lost. Move forward into the pools of Sonlight your heavenly Father offers you today.
Be refreshed. Be bathed in light. Be uplifted by his free gift of mercy. And hope. Just for you. When you need it most.
Much love to you from me, dear BBFF (Blessed Blog Friend Forever)!
