A short and sweet post this week – because I’m rustling up courage to venture out to enjoy this blasting furnace we call summer just like you are!
I want to thank all my BFFs (Blessed Friends Forever) at BayLife Church in Brandon, FL for having me as the speaker at their ultra fun Christmas in July Event last week. It was such a blast, and the food, and fellowship couldn’t be rivaled. I just loved digging out my Christmassy red clothes and rooting around to find one short-sleeved (difficult since I generally only wear them at that Yuletide time of year).
It was pure heaven scooping Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus from the olivewood manger scene that I bought decades ago in Jerusalem and leave displayed year-round in my entrance hallway. I loved bringing them to share the exquisite joy of the wee Messiah in a Manger that we usually reserve for December 25. We sang and laughed and prayed and drank dirty sodas (yum!) and created the most pitiful little craft thingies you’ve ever seen. Well mine was, anyway. For some reason we were given bright purple glue sticks to stick wood and cloth together and I ended up with purple sticky stuff all over my body and very little on my craft.
Met lots of new BFFS and caught up with some old ones (old as in the passage of time, not the number of years we’ve each accumulated on our person … as you know by now if you’ve followed this blog more than ten minutes, we, dear longtime BFFs, are not old – we’re sweetly ripened).
Anyhow, let this serve as a reminder that if you know of a church or civic group planning a fall or winter event and might be looking for an inspirational speaker who will leave ’em with a smile, please do put the leadership in contact with me and/or send them to the speaking ministry pages at my website, DeboraCoty.com.
Many thanks and stay cool!
Say, what are your plans for the rest of the summer, my friend? Your community of caring BFFs would love for you to share!
